The Pocket Philharmonic Presents a Jazz-Age Spectacular: Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in Blue’
PUEBLO, CO – October 23, 2025 – The Pocket Philharmonic is thrilled to announce a dazzling celebration of American music with its upcoming concert, Rhapsody in Blue, featuring the iconic works of George Gershwin. This electrifying performance will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:30 PM at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Pueblo (2561 Vinewood Ln, Pueblo, CO 81005).
The centerpiece of the afternoon will be Gershwin’s groundbreaking Rhapsody in Blue, with The Pocket Philharmonic’s own talented pianist, Abigail Silverberg, taking center stage as the featured soloist. This jazz-age masterpiece, which famously blends classical and jazz idioms, promises an energetic and brilliant performance.
Under the direction of Music Director Neal Figueroa, the program will also include the lively tone poem, An American in Paris, which transports audiences to the bustling, vibrant streets of 1920s Europe. The program will be rounded out by a selection of other beloved works by the great American composer.

About The Pocket Philharmonic:
The Pocket Philharmonic is an orchestra in miniature, comprised of only 18-20 professional players. The ensemble consists of a combination of woodwind, brass, and string instruments, with the addition of piano and percussion— using the smallest instrumentation possible, while still representing every instrument in a standard orchestra.
